MIT Student Sustainability Coalition
Communication. Collaboration. Collective action.
Mission
Established in the summer of 2020, the Student Sustainability Coalition (SSC) congregates student sustainability-related groups at MIT, facilitating communication, collaboration, and collective action. Given the diversity of student sustainability organizations and opportunities on campus, we aim to act as a centralized overarching organization, making connections between groups and elevating the student voice.
There are more sustainability-related orgs on campus than we can count. SSC helps coordinate and connect the student voice.
Initiatives
SSC is centered around sustainability initiatives that require cross-campus collaboration to create the most impact. Some examples include:
- The Sustainability Midway: an activities fair featuring all of MIT’s sustainability orgs
- Convenings of student sustainability leaders and groups
- Student recommendations on MIT’s Climate Action Plan
- COVID-19 reusable utensils pilot
We’re always happy to help facilitate new ideas!
