The SSC’s initiatives bring together multiple actors and efforts on campus. We facilitate projects that benefit from the collaboration of multiple groups.
SSC is centered around sustainability initiatives that require cross-campus collaboration to create the most impact. Anyone can propose a project at any time! While initiatives are ultimately led by member groups, individual students, or other organizations on campus, SSC helps facilitate connections and kickstarts the growth of a project. Some highlights include:
🌎 The Annual Sustainability Midway
(2022–present)
📕 Student Recommendations on MIT’s Climate Action Plan (2020-2021)
🍴COVID-19 Dining Reusable Utensils Pilot
(2020-2021)
What is the Sustainability Midway?
Our annual public-facing event, the Sustainability Midway, is a drop-in style activities fair that typically occurs near the beginning of the fall semester. The Midway features booths of most sustainability-related clubs, centers, and programs at MIT. It’s a great way to learn how to get involved (plus snag some free food and merch), especially for first-year undergraduate or graduate students and other community members who are new to MIT!
